Itinerary:

Day1: Inca Trail – Km 82 to Wayllabamba

Today, very early in the morning, we will begin hiking the Inca Trail. Our guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel to take you to the starting point of the trail. Here you will register and meet your chef and porters who will accompany you on the trek.

From Km. 82 (2700m, 8850ft) you will make your way to the Wayllabamba Campsite. The first two hours of the trek are lightly paced until you reach Miskay, a picnic area where your chef and porters will have lunch ready for the day. After lunch, you will have 3-4 hours (depending on pace) of steady uphill climbing.

Along the way you will pass the first Incan ruins of the trail, Patallacta, where you will have a good opportunity to stop and take some photos. Finally, when you arrive at Wayllabamba, the chef and porters will have the tents set up and even dinner waiting for you. You will have the rest of the night to relax.
Total walking time 4:30 / 5:00 hours (12 km.) – Initial altitude 2750 m. Final 3,000 m.

Day 2: Inca Trail – Wayllabamba to Pacaymayo

Early in the morning you will be woken up with a hot coca tea. Then you will have breakfast and continue.
Today you will start from an altitude of 3000m/9850ft and climb for five hours to reach an altitude of 4200m/13800ft at Warmihuañusca, Dead Woman’s Pass, where you will have a stunning panoramic view of the Andean mountains and their surroundings. After the toughest part of the Inca Trail you have a one hour descent before reaching the picnic area where your chef and porters will have prepared lunch. After lunch you have another hour of descent before reaching the Pacaymayo Campsite, where you have the rest of the day to relax. During the evening, you will enjoy a delicious dinner cooked by the chef.
Total walking hours 7:30 / 8:00 hrs (13 km.) – Initial altitude 3,000 m. – Final 3,800 m.
Overnight at Pacaymayo Campsite (Altitude: 3600m, 11800ft)

Day 3: Inca Trail – Pacaymayo to Wiñay Wayna

After an early breakfast you will continue trekking the Inca Trail passing by many archeological sites. The first part of today’s trek will take you from Pacaymayo (3600m/11800ft) to the second pass, Runkuracay (3900m/12800ft). After reaching this pass, the rest of the day’s trekking is mostly downhill, passing by Saqaymarca, an inaccessible old Incan town before reaching a nice area for lunch.
After lunch we will continue the trek until we reach the Wiñay Wayna Campsite, where you will have the rest of the day to relax. During the evening the chef will prepare dinner.
Total walking hours 10:00 hrs (15 km.) – Initial altitude 3800 m. – Final 2,650 m.

Day 4 Inca Trail – Wiñay Wayna to Machu Picchu

After an early breakfast to prepare for the rest of the Inca Trail, we will go from Wiñay Wayna (Quechua for ”young for ever”). After walking for about two hours we will reach the Sun Gate, ‘Inti Punku.’ You will have officially completed our Classic Inca Trail Adventure and finally will have arrived at Machu Picchu. Here you will be rewarded with a panoramic and breathtaking view of the ‘Lost City of the Incas.’

You will then have a short walk to get to Machu Picchu before enjoying a guided tour of Machu Picchu to learn about the history of this truly fascinating and sacred Inca site. You can then enjoy some free time before going down to Aguas Calientes.

You will have the afternoon free for you to have lunch, visit the hot springs of Aguas Calientes or visit the small market or museum. Finally, you will travel by train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo and then by bus to Cusco. Transfer to your hotel.
Total walking hours 2:15hrs (6 km) – Initial altitude 2650 m. Final 2,400 m.
Train back to Ollantaytambo, bus back to Cusco, and transfer to your hotel.

Important for the Inca Trail: To qualify as a student, it is necessary to have a valid ISIC card. Train services may be upgraded for an additional price. Personal belongings, mattresses and sleeping bags are carried by tourists.
